Flourishing Together

Dwellbeing Shieldfield supports members to play an active role in shaping life in Shieldfield. By sharing skills and building knowledge about the issues that affect our lives, we work towards flourishing together. Our 'weekly check-ins' began at the start of the first Covid-19 lockdown in Spring 2020 and have continued, as a way to support each other through this difficult period. The check-ins provide space to talk about wellbeing, to build friendships and for skill-sharing and education.

These gathering spaces create important moments of reflection and sharing of ordinary life. Rooted in ideas of Shieling, this is about how we collectively build and care for community spaces, and part of our ongoing exploration into alternative ways of organising, learning and solidarity. These spaces play a significant role in building relationships of trust and compassion in a community that has experienced fragmentation and isolation in recent years and support us to embrace a joyful community spirit that can lead Shieldfield (and other neighbourhoods like it) toward self-reliance, interdependence and flourishing.

We offer regular opportunities for members to socialise and learn together:

Dwellbeing: Monday Flourishing Together
Every Monday, 2pm
A regular opportunity to meet with Shieldfield neighbours and head to a local café to socialise, share news and ideas over a cuppa.

Dwellbeing: Friday Community Walks
Every Friday, meet at 10am outside Shieldfield House
Our weekly walks have a focus on fun, fresh air, exercise and communing with nature!

Dwellbeing Community Chefs

Get together with our Community Chefs to share food, and the stories of food, and build friendship and connection. For more details see our News page.
