Dwellbeing Community Chefs

Dwellbeing Community Chefs have been working collectively since December 2022 to develop a sustainable, resident-led food programme in Shieldfield. The chefs came together to cook and share food in ways that will build skills, knowledge and confidence, and at the same time to share cultures and build relationships in the neighbourhood.

The Chefs have demonstrated the ability to organise and deliver community food events, working in partnership with other local food based activities and registering as a food business based at Forum Cafe in 2023. They have also completed training in food safety and allergen awareness.

The Chefs now run monthly meals at Forum Cafe and are exploring new opportunities for cooking workshops, sharing recipes, and a catering service.

Dwellbeing Community Chefs aims to test a model for a ‘solidarity economy’ through which we develop the infrastructure for community cooking and sharing food in ways that meet residents’ material and social needs whilst adding value to our community and environment.

We always welcome and support people who would like to join us. Even if you don’t want to cook! There are lots of ways to be involved. Follow this link for more info.
